Lê Công Vinh surprisingly travels abroad in a brand-new way to Japan.

Lê Công Vinh is set to travel to Japan to earn his A coaching badge, which is hosted by JFA and AFC, opening a fresh chapter in his move into coaching following his playing days.

Former national player Lê Công Vinh will officially depart for Japan on June 14 to attend an A-level coaching course jointly organized by the Japan Football Association (JFA) and the AFC. This marks a crucial step in the career shift of one of the most outstanding strikers in Vietnamese football history.

Công Vinh's choice of Japan over local courses is not a random decision. Although the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and AFC have organized several A-level training programs in Vietnam, the former striker from Nghe An still wants to access a more modern coaching environment, where Japanese football is highly regarded for its scientific approach, discipline, and structured training system.

According to shared information, the coaching curriculum in Japan offers many new perspectives, helping participants update their modern football thinking. This is also the reason why Công Vinh decided to choose direct experience in one of Asia's leading football nations, rather than just studying domestically as usual.

Notably, this decision by Công Vinh has received support from the Vietnam Football Federation, thereby creating favorable conditions for him to attend the course. This shows encouragement for former national team players to improve their professional skills to serve Vietnamese football in the future.

Công Vinh's A-level course in Japan is divided into three phases. The first phase lasts about 10 days, starting on June 16. Afterwards, participants will return in August for the second phase lasting about two weeks, before completing the final phase in December.

Sharing about his study plan, Lê Công Vinh said he wants to make the most of his time in Japan to both study and practice, thereby accumulating practical experience. This is seen as an important starting point, not only for him personally but also opening a new model for former Vietnamese players on the path to becoming professional coaches.
