Just after participating in the World Cup, Asia's top star is about to arrive in the V-League

Information about CA TP.HCM nearing a deal for Odiljon Hamrobekov is creating excitement, as the Uzbekistan midfielder is set to appear at the 2026 World Cup.

V.League transfer market is heating up with news that CLB Công an TP.HCM could pull off one of the most notable deals in the league's history. According to a source from a Singaporean agent, the police-owned club has completed about 95% of the agreement to recruit Odiljon Hamrobekov, the Uzbekistan international who will participate in the 2026 World Cup.

However, this is still just speculative information and has not been officially confirmed by any party. According to revelations, the remaining 5% of the deal involves agreeing on the contract duration and compensation package for the player born in 1996.

If realized, this will be a contract that makes a big splash for Vietnamese football.

Hamrobekov won the title of Best Player of the 2018 Asian U23 Championship

Odiljon Hamrobekov is not an unfamiliar name to regional fans. He was part of the 2018 Asian U23 final in Changzhou, where Uzbekistan U23 defeated Vietnam U23 to claim the championship. This midfielder was also voted the Best Player of that tournament.

Eight years later, Hamrobekov still holds an important position in the Uzbekistan national team. He has earned over 70 caps and played in all 16 matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

At 30, Hamrobekov is regarded as an experienced defensive midfielder, notable for his ability to read the game, fierce tackling, and maintaining balance in midfield. Besides being a holding midfielder, he can also play as a central midfielder or drop into defense when needed.

The midfielder born in 1996 appeared in all 16 matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

In recent years, Hamrobekov's career has seen various stops. After a stint in the UAE with Shabab Al Ahli, he returned to Pakhtakor before playing for Navbahor Namangan, Bunyodkor, and is currently under contract with Tractor S.C, one of Iran's top clubs.

The fact that he is currently playing in Iran makes the credibility of this deal still questionable. Given that he is preparing to take part in the 2026 World Cup with Uzbekistan, Hamrobekov could easily receive more attractive offers from major Asian leagues or even Europe if he performs well.

He has earned over 70 caps for Uzbekistan.

Besides Hamrobekov, CA TP.HCM is also reportedly interested in two V.League champions with CAHN, Phan Văn Đức and Nguyễn Văn Đức, to strengthen the squad for the new season.

Although everything is still at the rumor level, the prospect of a World Cup player arriving in the V-League is certainly making Vietnamese fans eagerly await.
