The 34-year-old Casemiro has finalized his next move, joining MLS defending champions Inter Miami for the upcoming season. Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated: "Inter Miami complete signing of new midfielder Casemiro, here we go! Verbal agreements are in place among all involved parties, with all official procedures settled. Only the contract signing and official announcement are pending. Casemiro wants to play alongside Messi, and his future lies in MLS."

At Real Madrid and with the Brazilian national team, Casemiro was always an opponent of Messi, who is a Barcelona and Argentina legend. However, they will become teammates after the World Cup. Casemiro reportedly explained his latest choice as follows: "Playing alongside the best player is a fantastic opportunity for me. I never imagined that a day like this would come—sharing a locker room and training with Messi. The beauty of football lies in its ability to unite people. In La Liga, we had disputes and clashes, making rough tackles without apologies, but in the end, we all come together in the same place."
Inter Miami was founded by Manchester United and Real Madrid legend David Beckham. Over the past few years, the club has been ambitious, bringing in many well-known European stars such as Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba. Casemiro is the latest acquisition for Inter Miami, reportedly signing a three-year contract.
According to the British newspaper *Daily Mail*, because LA Galaxy first expressed interest in Casemiro, they hold a "discovery right" (priority to sign him). As a result, Inter Miami had to pay Galaxy $1 million (£750,000) as compensation to bring in "Fat Tiger," which delayed his transfer, only finalized during the World Cup.
Casemiro joins Inter Miami on a free transfer, but the club has already used up its three Designated Player (DP) slots. Inter Miami's current three DP slots are occupied by Messi, Rodrigo De Paul, and Germán Berterame. Therefore, Casemiro will initially sign as a non-designated player in his first season, with his salary structure subject to restrictions.
Casemiro's initial base contract salary is reportedly only $1.8 million (£1.4 million) per year, equivalent to less than £30,000 per week in the Premier League—a stark contrast to his top weekly wage of £350,000 at Manchester United. However, Casemiro may receive substantial commercial incentives and image rights income, and will get a salary increase once a DP slot becomes available.

Meanwhile, a video of Casemiro's final farewell message to Manchester United has surfaced. While delivering his farewell speech, Casemiro couldn't hold back his tears, wiping them with his sleeve before saying: "I have to express my gratitude, because these four years have been wonderful. I never imagined I would come to love Manchester United, the fans, and everyone here so much. So I just want to say thank you and fully enjoy this moment."
Casemiro's agent, Oscar Ribot, also confirmed that his player has deep affection for Manchester United. "He fell in love with the club, he fell in love with all the staff here. I think you (Manchester United) are a great family," Ribot explained. "The most amazing thing about Manchester United is that it is a very special club, massive in size, one of the best in the world, but also a family, and that matters a lot."
The agent also confirmed a story previously reported by the British media: before joining Manchester United, Casemiro watched the Red Devils' heavy defeat live on stream and said he could solve the team's problems.
Ribot recalled: "'Don't worry, I'll fix it.' That's true, absolutely true. Casemiro watches a lot of games. We saw Manchester United suffer a heavy defeat (0–4 to Brentford), and he said to me, 'If I join Manchester United, I can solve the problem. Go ahead.'"
Casemiro's wife, Anna Mariana, also broke down in tears when leaving. She said: "I'm sad because every match day, when we arrived at the stadium, it felt like meeting up with friends and family. During the games, when we celebrated victories, everyone hugged and cheered together. We built a very special bond, and I will truly miss all of this at Manchester United."

Regarding the fans chanting "Casemiro, stay for one more year" last season, Anna commented: "That felt like an expression of love for him… For us, leaving will leave an emptiness, so the affection shown through that song means a lot to us."
