The Red Devils have come to terms with Trabzonspor to keep Onana, aged 30, on loan for a further year, marking the second player they have managed to move on this summer following Rasmus Højlund. Those who have exited the club, including Casemiro, Sancho, and Malacia, left as free agents when their deals ended.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said: "Onana to Trabzonspor, here we go! A verbal agreement has been reached for a new loan deal. Onana is not part of Manchester United's plans for next season, and Trabzonspor will sign him again. The Turkish club will pay a loan fee to United, and now the details need to be finalised."
The loan fee for Onana has not yet been disclosed but is expected to be between €2 million and €5 million, not particularly high. To compare, when Højlund was loaned to Napoli last season, the Serie A side paid €6 million. Since Onana is a goalkeeper, the fee will be slightly lower.
Turkish media report that Trabzonspor and United have reached a club-level agreement for Onana's loan transfer, and the player's lawyer is reviewing the contract sent to him so that he can formally sign. Onana has accepted the terms offered by Trabzonspor, with no issues regarding personal conditions.
Meanwhile, this is a pure loan deal with no option for Trabzonspor to buy Onana at the end of the season, meaning the player will return to United next year, as he still has two years left on his contract. It is said that the Turkish side originally wanted to sign him permanently, but United's asking price was too high, so they settled for another loan. United paid €50 million to sign Onana and would need to sell him for over €20 million to avoid a book loss.

Onana spent last season on loan at Trabzonspor, making 33 appearances, helping the team win the Turkish Cup and secure a spot in the Europa League via their league position. United announced on Thursday that the first group of players would return for pre-season training on July 9. Onana was expected to come back to Carrington for training, but the club is eager to move him out quickly because his salary will increase from July 1.
Since the team returned to the Champions League, Onana's wages automatically rose by 25%, with a basic weekly salary of £120,000 and a potential maximum of £160,000. By loaning out Onana, although the loan fee is modest, Trabzonspor will cover 100% of his wages, saving United at least £6 million in salary costs. Combined with the loan fee, United have effectively earned nearly £10 million.
United plan to restructure their goalkeeping department this summer. After Onana leaves, backup goalkeeper Altay Bayındır is also expected to depart following the World Cup, with Turkish clubs showing interest in him.
Czech goalkeeper Radek Vítek, aged 22, impressed last season while on loan at Championship side Bristol City. Since he wants to play regularly rather than sit on the bench, he could be permanently transferred to promoted Premier League sides Hull City, Ipswich Town, or Coventry City.

Manchester United have renewed the contract of 40-year-old Tom Heaton for another year, and he will continue as the third-choice goalkeeper. However, the club needs to sign a second-choice keeper, with candidates including Scotland international Angus Gunn (released by Nottingham Forest), Leeds United's Karl Darlow, and Wolverhampton Wanderers' Sam Johnstone.
