On June 26, Beijing time, the final round of the World Cup group stage continued. The South Korean men’s football team, anxiously awaiting its fate, received three pieces of bad news within a single day, significantly reducing its chances of advancing to the knockout stage.

In yesterday’s Group A match, South Korea lost 0-1 to South Africa, squandering a favorable position and dropping to third in the group with a goal difference of -1. Their qualification now depends on the results of other teams.
In the matches of Groups D, E, and F that concluded today, if Germany beat Ecuador, Japan beat Sweden by 2 or more goals, and the Australia vs. Paraguay match had a winner, South Korea’s chances of advancing would have greatly increased.
Unfortunately, none of the three match results went in South Korea’s favor. In the end, Ecuador staged a comeback to upset Germany, Sweden drew 1-1 with Japan, and Paraguay and Australia played out a goalless draw.

As a result, Ecuador and Sweden, also ranked third in their groups, secured their spots in the knockout stage with 4 points each. Meanwhile, Paraguay, also with 4 points, surpassed South Korea in the ranking of the 12 third-placed teams, pushing South Korea down to 6th place.

Currently, Ecuador, Sweden, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Paraguay have all confirmed their positions ahead of South Korea, with South Korea only certain to be ahead of Scotland for now.

For South Korea to qualify as one of the eight best third-placed teams, the results of the remaining six groups’ final matches must meet at least three of the following conditions:
1. Spain beats Uruguay.
2. Senegal does not beat Iraq by 2 or more goals, and Iraq does not beat Senegal by 5 or more goals.
3. Austria beats Algeria.
4. DR Congo does not beat Uzbekistan, or Uzbekistan does not beat DR Congo by 6 or more goals.
5. Egypt beats Iran.
6. Ghana beats Croatia.
