Foreign player with V.League experience set to return to Vietnam

Ex-Becamex TP.HCM foreigner Dawda Ceesay is close to returning to V.League following interest from multiple teams.

After a stint playing in Bangladesh, Gambian midfielder Dawda Ceesay is now poised for a return to V.League. The player, who previously suited up for Becamex TP.HCM, is reportedly being eyed by several clubs and could reappear in Vietnam just ahead of the 2026/27 season.

According to various sources, Dawda Ceesay is currently on the radar of quite a few V.League clubs that are seeking foreign players to bolster their midfield strength. With experience playing in multiple countries and a solid physical foundation, the 1993-born player is regarded as the type of midfielder who can bring balance between defensive ability and attacking support.

Former Becamex TP.HCM foreigner Dawda Ceesay could return to V.League after four years.

Before coming to Vietnam, Ceesay had a fairly diverse playing career. He developed through Gambian football, represented Gambia's U17 team at the 2009 U17 World Cup, and later moved to play in Bangladesh, India, Qatar, and various other leagues. Continuously competing in different football environments has allowed this midfielder to accumulate considerable experience throughout his career.

In early 2022, Dawda Ceesay joined B.Bình Dương, the club now known as Becamex TP.HCM. Although his time there was brief, the 1.80-meter-tall midfielder left his mark with six appearances and one goal in V.League. After leaving the Thủ Dầu Một-based club in July 2022, he moved to Rahmatganj MFS in Bangladesh, where he has been playing ever since.

The Gambian midfielder is attracting interest from several clubs ahead of the new season.

At 33 years old, Ceesay is no longer in his prime, but he is still highly regarded for his battling ability, match experience, and versatility. Besides his preferred attacking midfield role, the Gambian can also play on either wing, offering the coaching staff multiple tactical options if he signs a contract.

The V.League transfer market is heating up as clubs rush to finalize their squads for the 2026/27 season. If negotiations go smoothly, Dawda Ceesay could very well return to Vietnam after four years away. With his familiarity with the V.League environment and international playing experience, the former Becamex TP.HCM foreign player promises to be a notable name in the coming period.
