Close friend Xuan Son unexpectedly catches the attention of several V.League clubs

Marlon Rangel, a Brazilian defender, has a chance to come back to V.League as two teams are eyeing him.

The V.League transfer market ahead of the 2026/27 season is heating up with a series of notable deals. One name drawing significant interest is Brazilian center-back Marlon Rangel. The 1.89-meter-tall player is reportedly in negotiations with two V.League clubs and is likely to return to Vietnam soon after playing abroad.

Marlon Rangel is no stranger to Vietnamese football fans. Born in 1996, the center-back previously played for Binh Dinh before moving to SHB Da Nang. During his time with the "Land of Vo" club, he impressed with his aerial ability, aggressive tackling, and powerful style of play. This period marked the most memorable chapter of his V.League career.

After that, Marlon joined SHB Da Nang with hopes of further establishing his reputation. However, his stint at the Han River club did not go as planned, as the Brazilian center-back showed limitations in speed and defensive maneuvering. Following his departure from SHB Da Nang, Marlon left V.League seeking new challenges, but he has always kept an eye on Vietnamese football.

Not only did he make his mark on the pitch, Marlon is also known for his close friendship with striker Nguyen Xuan Son. The two were teammates at Binh Dinh and have maintained a very close bond even after leaving the club. During the 2024 AFF Cup, Marlon took advantage of his holiday to appear in the stands at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho) to cheer on Xuan Son and the Vietnamese national team. Around Tet, the duo again drew attention by posting a video of them eating, singing karaoke, and interacting with fans, highlighting their off-field connection.

The fact that two V.League clubs are targeting Marlon Rangel shows that the Brazilian center-back remains highly regarded. Apart from his international experience, his big advantage is his familiarity with Vietnamese football and his ability to quickly integrate with teammates—something not every foreign player possesses.
