On the evening of March 5, Beijing time, the evaluation team of the referee committee of the Chinese Football Association conducted the second (20250304) referee evaluation of this season. In this issue, there are 3 precedents to be reviewed, all of which are from the Chinese Super League, and the final review team determined that 2 of them were wrong and omitted. Among them, Chengdu Rongcheng captain Zhou Dingyang's penalty was wrongly judged because of the stampede dyed red, while Zhang Yuning's penalty area was kicked to the penalty area and was not awarded a penalty was correct.
In the third minute of stoppage time in the first half of the second round of the Chinese Super League last weekend, Chengdu Rongcheng captain Zhou Dingyang was suspected of stepping on Tianjin Jinmen Tiger's foreign aid Hadas when scrambling for the ball, and the referee on duty Gan Shuran did not give a foul.
Then VAR intervened, and after watching it back on the spot, Gan Shuran sentenced Zhou Dingyang to a serious foul and showed him a red card to play. In the end, Chengdu Rongcheng lost 1-2 to Tianjin Jinmen Tigers because of one less player at halftime, losing to the opponent for the first time in team history.
Regarding this precedent, the majority of the members of the review group held that Zhou Dingyang, for the purpose of scrambling for the ball, had the opportunity to touch the ball, stepped on Hadas because of his late arrival, was difficult to foresee and dodge, and bent his knees to avoid causing further injury, and the foul did not reach the level of using excessive force or brutal methods, so it did not constitute a serious foul, and he should not be shown a red card. A yellow card should be shown to Zhou Dingyang for a reckless foul. Therefore, VAR intervention was wrong, and the referee Gan Shuran made a mistake in showing Zhou Dingyang a red card after watching back on the scene.
In addition, the Football Association also believes that in the second round of the Chinese Super League, Beijing Guoan was away to challenge Shanghai Shenhua, and Zhang Yuning was tackled to the ground by Eddie in stoppage time, which did not constitute a penalty.
Most members of the review group believe that Eddie is for the purpose of scrambling for the ball, and is the first to touch the ball to clear the siege, the action is reasonable, because the contact point is in the air, after touching the ball, due to inertia and Zhang Yuning's leg contact, it is an inevitable accidental contact, and the leg is closed immediately after contact to avoid injury. Eddie did not commit a foul, the referee made the right decision and VAR did not intervene correctly.
