On the evening of August 27, Beijing time, the Premier League giants Arsenal Club officially announced the official signing of 28-year-old Spain international Mikel Merino. The two parties will sign a long-term contract for a period of four years until 2028. Merino will wear Arsenal's number 23 shirt for the new season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal will pay Merino a fixed transfer fee of 32 million euros to Real Sociedad, plus an additional fee of 5 million euros, for a total price of about 37 million euros. Merino is currently worth up to 50 million euros in Germany's "Transfer Market" because he has only one year left on his contract with Real Sociedad, which finally allowed Arsenal to successfully sign his favorite reinforcement at a low price.

The 28-year-old Merino debuted in the Osasuna academy and has since played for Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle and Real Sociedad. Merino played 45 games for Real Sociedad last season, contributing eight goals and five assists. At this summer's European Championships, Merino was also selected for the Spain men's squad.

In the European Championships, Merino played in all seven games. In the quarter-final against Germany, Merino came off the bench to score the winner in extra time to help Spain eliminate hosts Germany 2-1. In the end, Spain won the European Championship again after 12 years.

After Merino's arrival, Arsenal has gathered Thomas, Rice, Merino and other giants in the midfield position, and the depth of the bench is enough to compete with Manchester City.
