The Portuguese Super League ended the season on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Guimaraes as rivals Benfica were held to a draw by Braga as they successfully defended their title by two points. Zhekeresh, who scored one goal in the game, won the Golden Boot with 39 goals, and 51 goals in the season attracted many giants. The 26-year-old Swedish centre-forward is bound to make a move this summer, but he has refused to reveal his next home.
Dzhekerish has one last match against Portugal, which is the domestic cup final against Benfica on 25 May. As a result, he has not revealed his future options after winning the Portuguese Super League, and he is not even willing to talk about whether this will be his last game at the José Alvaret Stadium. "It's professional football, I'm still here at Sporting Portugal. I don't know what's going to happen, no one can predict the future."
Of course, his bid farewell to the home fans has made his departure from the club inevitable this summer. According to rumours, Arsenal have offered him an annual salary of £7 million after tax, and the two sides have agreed that Arteta's side are expected to make an offer of between €70 million and €75 million.
However, United are still rumoured to be hoping to cut off the beard, but everything depends on the result of Wednesday's Europa League final. If United beat Tottenham to win the title, they would qualify for the Champions League, which would reportedly double Amorim's transfer budget to £200 million, and further raise funds through the sale of existing players. In that case, you can still try to attract Zhekereish.
Offside Insight reports that Ruben Amorim would not only be willing to sell £72 million centre-forward Hojlund, but could even sell Zirkze if he could get his former favourite. The 23-year-old Dutch centre-forward had a good run before he was injured at the end of the season. However, his performance in front of goal was not ideal, scoring just three goals in the Premier League, one less than the 22-year-old Hojlund. Both Manchester United strikers have caught interest from Serie A sides, with the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus and Fiorentina all keeping an eye on them.
Between Hojlund and Djekereish, United would have preferred to sell the Danish international, however, with the £72 million spent on bringing him in, it has become more difficult to sell him. Conversely, the €42.5 million signing of Zirkze is easier to sell, with the Reds reportedly willing to accept a €40million offer.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed Manchester United's pursuit of Jekereish: "As far as I know, both Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in Jekereish and his future will become more certain in the coming days. At the moment, he remains focused on Sporting Portugal until the season is really over."
If United lose the Europa League final on Wednesday, bringing in Djekereish will be 100 per cent out of the question. In that case, the Red Devils will miss out on next season's European competition entirely, with only the Premier League, League Cup and FA Cup to play, with a maximum of 51 competitive games in a single season, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe will not spend too much money on reinforcements.
Missing out on the Champions League will not affect the likes of Cunha and Liam Delap, whose transfer fees and wages are within the club's budget, and players from relegation teams don't care about European qualification.
However, Djekereish and his calibre will certainly not opt for Manchester United, who will turn 27 next month and feel he has no time to waste on a revival of the Red Devils with an uncertain future. According to the current situation, the first choice for the Portuguese striker is Arsenal, and even if Amorim wins the Europa League, he will have to show more evidence to convince his former disciple to choose Old Trafford.
