Tottenham Hotspur is strong at Manchester United, 70 million to buy Mbeumo! The players leaned towards the Red Devils but wavered

A long delay means many hitches! Manchester United have been slow to move forward with the transfer of Brian Mbeumo and may now face serious challenges, with British media claiming that Tottenham Hotspur have stepped in to intercept the beard, having just appointed Thomas Frank, who has been with Brentford for six years, as manager.

Earlier this month, Manchester United's £45 million plus £10 million offer for Mbeumo was rejected outright by Brentford because they wanted £70 million. No agreement has been reached between the two clubs, with the Red Devils said to be willing to make an offer of more than £60 million but no official action has been taken.

According to the British "Daily Mirror", after confirming Frank's coaching, Tottenham Hotspur made a bid of 70 million pounds, which met Brentford's price list requirements, specifically a fixed transfer fee of 65 million pounds, plus a floating bonus of 5 million pounds, which is a full 10 million pounds higher than Manchester United. Manchester United's second offer is a fixed £55 million plus £5 million bonus, according to the newspaper.

Frank is said to want to take Mbemo with him to the Tottenham Stadium, and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is also willing to give him this "welcome gift" to prove the team's ambition after beating Manchester United in the Europa League final to qualify for the Champions League.

Brentford have a year left on Mbeumo's contract, but they can use a clause to automatically extend for another year, with the 25-year-old Cameroon winger free of liquidated damages. The 'Bees' believe their asking price is entirely justified, with United paying £62.5 million for Cunha, who has scored just 15 goals and six assists in the Premier League, while Mbeumo is younger with 20 goals and eight assists, just less than Mohamed Salah, Isak and Haaland.

One area where United can still maintain their advantage is wages, with Mbeumo offering a fixed salary of between £150,000 and £175,000 a week, with bonuses expected to be £200,000 a week. Tottenham, on the other hand, only offered a base salary of £130,000 to £140,000, plus bonuses, which was also less than the amount of the Red Devils.

The Athletic revealed this week why Manchester United's Champions League miss out on attracting a star like Cunha to join, mainly because of the "grandeur of the ancestors", Sir Matt Busby and Sir Ferguson Ferguson have successfully left many trophies and history for the Red Devils. Another attraction for players is that the Red Devils have one of the highest salaries in the Premier League.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham have indeed made initial contact with Brentford to discuss the possibility of a deal for Mbeumo. Mbeumo remains keen on a move to Manchester United and has already stated earlier this month that the Red Devils are his first choice, as he grew up wearing a Cristiano Ronaldo shirt.

However, the report adds that Tottenham are not out of contention entirely, and believes Mbeumo's statement came before Frank took charge of his own team, and the Danish coach may have convinced his disciples to be more interested in a move to Tottenham. Now, Mbeumo is considered more interested in considering a move to Tottenham.

After Frank was officially announced as Ange Postecoglou's replacement on Friday, Mbemo reacted to the manager's move on social media, using two prayer emojis, apparently to express his blessings to his mentor.

The authoritative BBC has stressed that Tottenham have not yet submitted an offer, but they are interested in bringing in Mbeumo, in addition to the Champions League teams in Europe are also watching to see how the situation develops.

The summer transfer window will officially open on Monday 16 September, with a decisive development in Mbeumo's move expected next week. If Mbeumo cannot be acquired, Tottenham are considering bringing in Bournemouth's Anthony Semenyo as an alternative. Interestingly, so did Manchester United's plans!
