Simeone's Atletico Madrid has indeed made many questionable signings, particularly among forwards, who are bought for high prices but are not used properly, leading to their decline, such as Felix and Lemar.
According to the latest report from Italian transfer expert Romano, Girona has finalized a deal with Atletico for Lemar's loan, with Atletico responsible for half of the player's wages during the loan period.

Lemar rose to fame at Monaco, where he formed a trio with Mbappe and Falcao, helping the team win the Ligue 1 title in the 2016-17 season, scoring 14 goals and providing 18 assists that year. In the summer of 2018, Lemar transferred to Atletico for €72 million, while his market value was as high as €65 million, later peaking at €70 million upon joining. However, his journey with the mattress makers has not met expectations, as injuries have plagued him, resulting in 186 appearances with only 10 goals and 19 assists.

At 29 years old, Lemar is still in what should be a player's prime, yet this French left-footed forward's market value has plummeted to €5 million, with two years remaining on his contract until 2027. Last season, he made only 8 appearances for Atletico across all competitions, all as a substitute, totaling 128 minutes played, with no goals or assists; he did not feature in the 2025 Club World Cup, making him a completely marginal player for Atletico.
