Jan Paul van Hecke has opted not to engage in discussions with Brighton & Hove Albion regarding a contract extension and is actively pursuing a transfer to a leading Premier League club, as confirmed by sources close to Van Hecke.

The sources informed Voetbal International that Van Hecke aspirations include playing in the Champions League and representing his country at the 2026 World Cup. Therefore, the center-back will aim for a transfer to a top-tier Premier League club.

Brighton was prepared to make Van Hecke the highest-paid player in the club's history, but the Dutch international rejected Brighton's offer.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Van Hecke, who made his debut for the Netherlands earlier this year.

The center-back joined Brighton in 2020 from NAC Breda, who will receive 7.5% of Van Hecke's future transfer fee, and cost the Seagulls €2.5 million. Currently, Brighton is reportedly seeking €50 million for Van Hecke, who will not pressure the club for a transfer.

Van Hecke has two more years left on his contract with Brighton, who will kick off their Premier League season on August 16th against Fulham.
