Newcastle United is gearing up to submit a £40 million proposal for Crystal Palace's captain Marc Guehi as they attempt to salvage what has turned into a disastrous summer transfer window.

According to The Times,, Newcastle is now prepared to rekindle their interest in Guehi,25, and is set to make a £40 million offer.
It is understood that Newcastle's offer is £10 million short of Crystal Palace’s asking price for the England international.
Guehi has only one year remaining on his contract in South London, with Chelsea and Liverpool also significantly linked to a transfer.
