Due to the unrest among the Danish supporters after the match, the organizers decided to clear the stands of traveling fans before the Víkingur supporters were allowed to exit.
Nevertheless, a riot broke out between Brondby supporters and the police, who deployed pepper spray to prevent the situation from worsening.
According to the media outlet Visir, two of Brondby's security personnel were pepper sprayed in the eyes during the riot, requiring both to receive treatment in an ambulance.
As reported by TV2 Sport, witnesses also claimed that an Icelandic police officer was punched in the face.
According to Víkingur's CEO, Brondby supporters caused damage to the stadium – including broken toilet trolleys and equipment, amounting to approximately €34,000.
However, the disturbances did not end at the stadium.
Later that evening, several Brondby fans reportedly went to a bar where Vikingur supporters were gathered, leading to another brawl.
"They all arrived wearing masks and assaulted us. It resulted in a violent fight. Thankfully, no one ended up in the emergency room, but they were clearly upset about the loss,"an Icelandic fan recounts Visir.
For this reason, the Danish fans were reportedly banned from the bar.
Additionally, some Brondby supporters allegedly broke a framed FC Copenhagen shirt that was displayed on a wall in the bar prior to the match.
Brondby lost the match 3-0 and faces a challenging return leg if they wish to advance to the playoff round in the tournament against the French team Strasbourg.
