Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has announced that the club will be looking to acquire a new center-back due to Levi Colwill's injury setback.
Colwill, 22, suffered an ACL tear just two days after returning for pre-season training with Chelsea, which means he is expected to miss a significant portion of the 2025-26 season.
Chelsea has alternatives in the center of defense, including Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile, and Josh Acheampong all believed to be part of Maresca’s strategy.
After their 2-0 victory in a pre-season friendly against Bayer Leverkusen at Stamford Bridge on Friday, he expressed his desire for another signing.
He mentioned: “It’s crucial for me to secure a new center-back. We will see if we pursue it.”
Chelsea's Premier League season kicks off against Crystal Palace on Sunday, August 17th.
