Hoylund has agreed to transfer, and Manchester United is close to reaching an agreement with Milan! Only the buyout amount needs to be negotiated.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United striker Rasmus Hoylund has expressed his willingness to join AC Milan. United is confident of finalizing an agreement with Milan, who are rebuilding their squad after the return of coach Allegri. The team finished 8th in Serie A last season, failing to qualify for this season's European competitions, just like Manchester United.

It remains unclear whether Manchester United and Milan can reach a permanent transfer agreement. The Red Devils have priced Hoylund at around £30 million, while Milan is seeking to loan the 22-year-old Danish international. Daniel Longo from Italian outlet Calciomercato stated that Manchester United and Milan are "close to reaching a comprehensive agreement," with Hoylund set to transfer on loan, with Milan paying €6 million (£5.2 million) in loan fees, along with an option to buy.

Reports indicate that negotiations regarding the permanent transfer fee for Hoylund are still ongoing, with Manchester United seeking a total of €40 million (£35 million), while Milan hopes for €30 million (£26 million). Hoylund is scheduled to meet with Manchester United executives on Tuesday to discuss his loan move to Milan, and both clubs may soon reach an agreement.

Hoylund joined Manchester United in 2023 for a transfer fee of £72 million from Atalanta, signing a 5-year contract that has only been in effect for two years. However, the club decided early this year to sell the Danish international if they acquired a new striker. United initially planned to spend no more than £60 million on a new forward, but the transfer fee for Sheshko "exceeded the budget," requiring the sale of "cargo" to recoup some cash for further signings.

Sheshko has now transferred from RB Leipzig for £74 million and was introduced to the Old Trafford crowd before a preseason friendly against Fiorentina last Saturday. In that match, Hoylund, although a substitute, sat on the bench for the entire 90 minutes.

This was the first time Hoylund did not participate in Manchester United's five preseason matches, as coach Amorim opted to start midfielder Mason Mount in the number 9 position, while just six days earlier, he had played Cunha as a striker in a 2-2 draw against Everton.

Amorim and Manchester United have made it clear to Hoylund what he might face if he insists on staying. Sources close to Hoylund acknowledge that after Sheshko's arrival, he will have to leave. Although Hoylund seems dissatisfied with Manchester United's pressure to leave and emphasized 12 days ago that he wishes to remain at the club, he ultimately has to bow to reality.

Coach Amorim has refused to publicly guarantee that Hoylund will stay, and has taken concrete actions to indicate to the forward that there will be little, if any, playing time available if he remains. The Red Devils will not compete in European tournaments next season, with only 38 rounds of Premier League matches, plus the EFL Cup and the FA Cup, resulting in very few games. For example, the EFL Cup schedule runs from September to March next year, with only one match per month.

With the 2026 World Cup in North America approaching, national team players face greater pressure to secure stable playing time this season. Hoylund has only scored once in his last 16 appearances for Denmark, and in the most recent match against Lithuania, he was placed on the bench. If he does not get enough playing time next season, he risks not only losing his starting position on the Danish national team but also potentially being omitted from the squad altogether.

If he leaves Manchester United for Milan, it would be a familiar place for Hoylund, as the city of Milan is only about 40 kilometers from Bergamo, the home of his former club Atalanta, both located in northern Italy.
