Amorin has determined that Onana is not suitable for Manchester United! A new goalkeeper is bound to be bought, and the top choice has been identified.

Manchester United's manager Ruben Amorin excluded 29-year-old Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana from the squad in the 0-1 loss to Arsenal, officially citing his absence from any preseason training or warm-up matches. However, Spanish outlet "fichajes" reports that the Red Devils' manager has concluded that Onana is not part of his long-term plans.

After the match, Amorin explained: "Andre (Onana) is not injured; he has recovered, but other players performed very well during preseason, and I have to find a balance. Next week might tell a different story. This week, we chose the players who participated."

According to reports, Amorin and Onana's relationship has reached a turning point, and Manchester United is set to seek a new goalkeeper in the near future, possibly within the next two weeks of the summer transfer window. Excluding Onana from the Premier League opener demonstrates Amorin's determination to find a goalkeeper who fully meets his tactical needs.

The type of goalkeeper Amorin needs does not require flashy ball distribution skills, but rather someone who can reliably guard the goal and deliver the ball to the wing-backs to advance forward, which is crucial for the 343 formation's transition between attack and defense. Spanish media state that Onana's absence sends a clear message to the team: no one is guaranteed a starting position, and competition for spots will be fierce.

Another goalkeeper on the team, Baindil, replaced Onana as the starter, but unfortunately, he also failed to prove himself, getting bullied again during a corner kick, leading to a conceded goal. Therefore, Amorin has valid reasons to want a new goalkeeper, one who is reliable and trustworthy enough to play a key role in important matches and provide stability for the team.

Of course, due to Onana's €50 million transfer fee, his high salary of £120,000 to £150,000, and the issue of just returning from injury, it will likely be difficult for him to find a new club this summer. This means Manchester United cannot pursue Paris Saint-Germain's 26-year-old Italian goalkeeper Donnarumma. However, it is reported that Amorin has two other candidates, one of whom is 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Senna Lamens from Antwerp.

Aston Villa's Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is also under consideration; he remains at Villa, and the £40 million transfer fee the club has set is the biggest obstacle. Both Martinez and Lamens are willing to join Manchester United, and Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the club has been in contact with the agents of both players.

"Onana still believes he has a future at Manchester United," Romano said. "The club likes Lamens, and if they are to sign a new goalkeeper this summer, he will be a target. Currently, there is no action regarding Martinez."

It is reported that Amorin has explicitly stated he is looking for a player who fully aligns with the club's philosophy and can act as a defensive leader in front of the goal. In the long term, neither Onana nor Baindil meets this standard, as both have made numerous mistakes and have clear shortcomings.

Premier League legend Danny Murphy believes Manchester United was unlucky to lose to Arsenal, but the team still has two major weaknesses: midfield and goalkeeper. Murphy stated, "The situation with United's goalkeepers is also concerning; Baindil's mistake allowed Ricardo Calafiori to score the winning goal, which cost them again. Regardless, losing like this is frustrating, especially since it has happened before."

Undoubtedly, if Manchester United were to change goalkeepers, most fans would welcome it with open arms. Of course, identifying new goalkeeper targets must be done cautiously to avoid making the wrong choice again.
