Manchester United has stated there are no plans to sell Andre Onana before the end of the summer transfer window, despite the goalkeeper being dropped from the lineup for the Arsenal game.
Manchester United does not intend to sell Andre Onana before the summer transfer window shuts, even though he was excluded from the squad for the Premier League opener against Arsenal.
MU’s manager, Ruben Amorim, explained that Onana was not dropped, but rather that it was too soon to bring him back, especially since he missed all of pre-season due to a hamstring injury.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has denied rumors about Onana returning to Inter Milan. In his latest update, Romano stated: "Onana isn’t injured, he’s still working on regaining his form. He accepted Ruben Amorim’s decision not to include him against Arsenal. Onana has no intention of going back to Inter and there’s no contact with the club. His last discussions were with Saudi Arabian clubs at the end of May and early June, but nothing further developed."
Choosing Altay Bayindir over Onana proved risky, as Bayindir made a costly error from a corner, allowing Riccardo Calafiori to score the only goal and leaving United without points at Old Trafford.
It was only after this match that reports began to raise questions about Onana’s future, and The Sun even claimed Inter Milan might try to re-sign him before the transfer window closes. However, that’s not Manchester United’s plan; they may consider replacing Bayindir, not Onana, in the final two weeks of the window.
United spent £47 million to bring Onana from Inter Milan two years ago, and they would require a significant transfer fee to sell him now. The club may consider serious offers early next summer, when there would be enough time to find a replacement for the Cameroonian goalkeeper.
