Striker Huỳnh Như was clearly overjoyed after her goal in the match, which played a key role in the Vietnamese women’s team’s win.
The third-place play-off between the Vietnamese and Thai women's teams took place, with Thailand having a slight advantage in the opening minutes. However, our girls quickly regained control, scoring three goals in 68 minutes and conceding only once in the 87th minute. With a 3-1 victory, the Vietnamese women's team secured third place overall at the 2025 AFF Women’s Cup.
In a post-match interview, when asked about her feelings after scoring on August 19th—a day of great significance for the Vietnamese people—Huỳnh Như did not conceal her joy:
“Today, I feel extremely happy because the whole team set a goal to win this match as a gift for all our fans, as well as to show our appreciation to everyone who came to the stadium to support the women’s national team. Seeing such a large crowd made me feel deeply moved and grateful, which motivated both me and my teammates to give our best effort on the field.
Regarding the goal I scored, I’ve never seen everyone so happy after one of my goals. It felt amazing to be embraced by everyone. Especially on this meaningful day, August 19th, I would like to dedicate this goal to all the fans across the country who have always loved and supported the team. I wish everyone a wonderful day filled with joy and happiness.”.
When asked about the team’s performance and the atmosphere created by the fans at Lạch Tray Stadium, Huỳnh Như also expressed her gratitude to the supporters:
“Today, the whole team promised each other to give our all for the fans. As everyone saw, the entire team worked hard to achieve this victory. This is a reward, a wonderful thing that we want to dedicate to everyone who came to the stadium and to thank all the supporters nationwide who have stood by the team.
After the 2025 AFF Women’s Cup, fans will have to wait until next year to see the national women’s team compete again, this time at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Australia. Vietnam is in the same group as Japan, India, and Taiwan.
