The Swedish forward, who was the Premier League’s second-highest scorer last season, posted on social media to explain why he missed the PFA awards and to comment on the ongoing transfer speculation.
Isak stated: It's an honor to be recognized by my peers and selected for the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for 2024-25. I want to thank my Newcastle teammates and everyone at the club who supported me. I couldn't attend the awards ceremony as it wasn't appropriate for me to be there. The club has long been aware of my position, but their promises were not kept, resulting in a breakdown of trust. This relationship can no longer continue.
Shortly after, Italian transfer expert Romano reported that Isak has officially decided to leave and is only interested in joining Liverpool, never having considered Al Hilal. The Swedish striker has rejected Newcastle and is not open to discussing any other options, nor will he move to Al Hilal for a higher salary—Liverpool is his sole destination.
Isak is currently 25 years old, stands 1.92 meters tall, plays as a right-footed center forward, is valued at €120 million by Transfermarkt, and is contracted until 2028. Last season, he scored 23 goals and provided 6 assists in 34 Premier League appearances.
In my opinion, the conflict between Isak and Newcastle is hard to judge, but Isak is arguably a more complete Nordic striker than Haaland. He needs a top club to achieve greater honors, and reigning Premier League champions Liverpool are the ideal choice for him.
