The Vietnam U16 women's squad has landed in Indonesia, marking the beginning of their journey to claim the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship crown.
Early on August 19, the Vietnam U16 women's team departed for Indonesia to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 Women's Championship, which will be held from August 20 to August 30.
To reach their final destination, the competition venue in Surakarta, coach Okiyama Masahiko and his team took an international flight from Hanoi to Jakarta, followed by a domestic flight before arriving in Surakarta. After 12 hours of travel, the Vietnam U16 women's team safely arrived in Surakarta that evening.
The 2025 Southeast Asian U16 Women's Championship will kick off tomorrow (August 20) with the first matches of Group A. As one of three teams in Group B, Vietnam’s U16 women will play their opening match against Cambodia’s U16 women at 19:30 on August 21.
Coach Okiyama Masahiko’s squad will face Myanmar U16 women on August 25 for their next group match before concluding the group stage. The semifinals are scheduled for August 27 and the final will take place on August 29 in Indonesia.
According to the plan, tomorrow morning (August 20), team representatives will attend a technical meeting to discuss professional matters ahead of Group B, while coach Okiyama Masahiko will join the press conference in the afternoon. The Vietnam U16 women's players will also have a session to get acquainted with the stadium and weather conditions in Surakarta later that day.
Bringing 23 players after a month of preparation at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, coach Okiyama Masahiko expressed his satisfaction with the team’s recent training period. The players have adhered to and successfully completed the training programs set by the coaching staff. The Japanese head coach also showed determination to lead the Vietnam U16 women's team to achieve the best possible results.
Assessing the recent preparation, head coach Okiyama Masahiko shared: “We have prepared very well according to the outlined plan. I highly appreciate the recent training camp for the Vietnam U16 women's team. The whole squad worked hard and fulfilled the training requirements set by the coaching staff.”
