The China Open is drawing ever closer. Tonight marks the official launch ceremony for the event, and following yesterday’s release of the women’s singles draw, the men’s singles draw has just been unveiled. Let’s take an early look.
Last year’s champion Sinner will enter as the top seed. Although he recently relinquished the world No. 1 ranking, he remains the strongest contender for the title this year. His first-round opponent will be former Grand Slam champion Cilic, who played in the defending tournament in Hangzhou but exited early. If Zhang Zhizhen advances past the first round, he is likely to face Sinner in the second round.

Other seeded players in the first quarter include Kachanov. Additionally, Malosan and Bonzi will compete for a spot to advance.
The second quarter is led by Deminal, who will face Buyunchakht in the opening round. Another seed is Czech player Menšík, who made a name for himself at last year’s Shanghai Masters. He will battle Katzmanovic for a place in the next round.

Another Chinese player, Shang Juncheng, like Zhang Zhizhen, faces a qualifier in the first round. If he wins, he is likely to meet Menšík in the second round.
The third quarter is headed by Musetti, who recently reached a tour final. Last year at the China Open, he was eliminated early. This time, he will face French power hitter Pericard in the first round. Another finalist, Bublik, is unseeded and will likely meet Musetti in the second round.
Another seeded player is Rublev. The Russian will face Copil in the first round, and if he advances, he will face the winner between Lener and Cerundolo in the next round, promising a tough battle.

The final quarter is led by Zverev and Medvedev. Although their first-round opponents are not as highly ranked as in their peak moments, both have reached quarterfinals this season. Also in this quarter are the distinctive players Fokina and Moutet.
Compared to the Tokyo tournament happening simultaneously, the China Open’s lineup is indeed more dazzling. With the women’s matches also taking place concurrently, the event’s overall attention has been elevated.
Historically, although Federer never clinched the title, champions have included Grand Slam winners and former world No. 1 players such as Safin, Roddick, Sinner, and Alcaraz. Coinciding with China’s National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival, the tournament enjoys great popularity and high attention among Chinese tennis fans.

This year, with defending champion Alcaraz absent and Sinner competing again, who will emerge victorious and claim the trophy? Let’s wait and see!(Source: Tennis Home, Author: Luo Cheng Qiye)
