Although nine players were eliminated in the first round of singles qualifying, thanks to the event being held domestically, we still have as many as 14 players competing in the singles main draw, with only Zheng Qinwen and Wang Xinyu gaining direct entry through their world rankings.

Among them, Olympic champion and former Grand Slam finalist Zheng Qinwen has consistently drawn significant attention and remains the undisputed leading figure and star player in Chinese tennis today.
Whether Zheng Qinwen will actually compete in this year’s China Open and how she will perform is a matter of great concern to all fans. Since undergoing minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery on her right elbow in July, she has been in recovery, but by mid-last month, Zheng had already resumed on-court training.

After traveling early to Beijing to prepare for the 2025 China Open, Zheng Qinwen also took some time with her coaching team to visit the Great Wall. In a recent interview, she expressed deep gratitude for everyone’s concern about her health.
“My injury has actually recovered about seventy to eighty percent. I haven’t fully started serving at full effort yet, but my baseline play is basically fine.”
Zheng openly admitted that her recovery has been quite rapid. The past two months were very tough for her as she was eager to play but unable to do so. Thankfully, everything is now moving in a better direction.

According to the 2025 China Open draw, seeded seventh, Zheng Qinwen enjoys a first-round bye and will face the winner between Lamens and Wang Yafan in the second round.
We look forward to Zheng Qinwen making a full recovery from her injury soon and entering the 2025 Asian season in even better form!(Source: Tennis Home, Author: Barbie)
