Legend Bjorn Borg regards Novak Djokovic as the greatest player ever, outshining Federer and Nadal, and he is confident Djokovic can claim a 25th Grand Slam victory.
Legend Bjorn Borg asserts that Novak Djokovic is the greatest player in history, surpassing both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, and believes the Serbian star still has a chance to secure his 25th Grand Slam.
Borg won 11 Grand Slam singles titles, but his career was cut short when he unexpectedly retired at 26. Later, Pete Sampras surpassed Borg, Rod Laver, and Roy Emerson by setting a record of 14 Grand Slam titles, a milestone once thought unbeatable.
However, Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic all achieved extraordinary feats. Federer broke Sampras’s record and retired with 20 titles, only to be overtaken by Nadal and Djokovic. Nadal raised the total to 22 before Djokovic surged ahead to 24, matching Margaret Court’s all-time record.
Djokovic currently holds the records for most weeks at world No. 1 and most Masters 1000 titles, making him statistically the most successful player. Speaking to Sky Sports, Borg said: “To me, Djokovic is the greatest player ever. Federer and Nadal share the second spot.”
Borg is especially impressed that Djokovic maintains such a high level at age 38. Although he hasn’t reached a Grand Slam final this year, he has appeared in all four semifinals.
With Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner sharing the last 8 Grand Slam titles, Djokovic is still expected to break the record with his 25th. Borg commented: “It’s amazing that at 38 he still plays top-level tennis. I know Djokovic wants that 25th Grand Slam. I hope he continues for at least another year. It will be tough against Sinner, Alcaraz, and others, but I believe he can do it.”
