WTA125 Jingshan Tournament: Ma Yexin Falls to Sun Lulu, Finishes as Runner-up in Women's Singles

On September 28, 2025, the women's singles final of the WTA125 Jingshan event wrapped up, where the impressive Chinese competitor Ma Yexin lost 4-6, 2-6 to the third seed and New Zealand-Chinese player Sun Lulu, securing second place.

The two athletes had previously faced each other once, with Ma Yexin victorious at that time. In this match, Sun Lulu took an early lead by breaking serve; despite Ma Yexin fighting back to level the score at 4-4, she eventually lost the first set 4-6. In the second set, Sun Lulu went on a four-game winning streak and clinched the title with a 6-2 score.

In this tournament, Ma Yexin defeated the fourth seed Beregi in straight sets in the first round, then overcame Hinata Nogami and Rina Saigo to reach the semifinals; in the semis, she battled through three sets to narrowly defeat the second seed Gibson. With the runner-up finish, Ma Yexin earned 81 ranking points and $13,350 in prize money, pushing her ranking back into the top 200.
