After a slow start to the season marked by struggles to reach his top form and a lack of motivation due to the absence of his major rival Jannik Sinner, Alcaraz gradually regained confidence from spring onward and has since secured a series of important victories.

Since April, the 22-year-old from Murcia has won 50 matches and lost only 3, reclaiming his position as the world number one.

Although fans were worried when he suffered an ankle injury in the first round of the ATP 500 Tokyo tournament, Alcaraz quickly demonstrated improving physical condition. The clearest proof was his impressive performance against Brandon Nakashima to reach the semifinals in Japan.

In that match, the six-time Grand Slam champion faced no break points and delivered numerous spectacular shots to thrill the audience.

This victory also marked Alcaraz’s 65th win of the season, matching his personal best record, with plenty of opportunities to break it further as many tournaments remain this season.

In a recent interview with La Razon, former top Spanish player and current analyst Alex Corretja expressed special admiration for his protégé: "The truth is Carlos is a gift to the tennis world. He has a natural and unique style that always captivates fans. What’s wonderful is that Carlos plays with a constant smile, showing he approaches the sport in a healthy way."

"Everyone knows elite sports demand sacrifices and pain, but with Carlos, joy is present in every match. That is what makes him an inspiration for the younger generation."

Alcaraz’s next opponent in Tokyo will be Casper Ruud, the Norwegian player currently in great form. Although Ruud trails 1-4 in their head-to-head record, he won their most recent encounter at last year’s ATP Finals.

In the other semifinal, Taylor Fritz will face fellow American Jenson Brooksby, promising an exciting domestic showdown.
