The Shanghai Masters draw has been released: Djokovic and Alcaraz lead a star-studded field!

As the quarterfinals of the China Open begin, the Shanghai Masters draw has just been announced, giving us a glimpse of the players competing in Asia’s top men’s tennis tournament.

Three-time Grand Slam winner Wawrinka appeared alongside Wu Yibing, the first player from mainland China to claim a tour title, at the draw event.

World No. 1 Alcaraz will enter as the top seed. Other seeds in his section include Deminor, Khachanov, Medvedev, Fokina, Tsitsipas, Brandon Nakashima, and Norrie.

China’s two wildcard entrants, Shang Juncheng and Wu Yibing, were both placed in this section. Shang will face American Kavacevich, while Wu will play a qualifier in the opening round.

If both advance, they will meet the Russian doubles team who received a first-round bye. Interestingly, at the recent Hangzhou tournament, Wu Yibing defeated Medvedev, the Shanghai Masters qualifying champion. Should they meet again, who will come out on top? Another exciting first-round match features American youngster Learner against Serbian veteran Krajinovic.

The second quarter is led by former finalist Zverev, who lost that year to Medvedev, the eventual champion. Other seeds in this section include Musetti, Lehecka, Mickelson, Shapovalov, Alcaraz, Menchik, and Darderi.

Chinese players Zhou Yi and Bu Yunchaokete share this section. Zhou will face Dutch player De Jong in the first round, while Bu will go up against Argentine Cerundolo.

The third quarter is headed by Djokovic, returning to compete. His first opponent will come from the match between former US Open champion Cilic and Mutai. Other seeds in this section include Shelton, Diano, Cerundolo Sr., Rudd, Rublev, Copil, and Tiafoe.

Notable first-round matches include Italian handsome Berrettini facing French veteran Mannarino. Additionally, former Masters finalists Opelka and Goffin will play French players Bonzi and Muller respectively; the showdown between Mauresmo and Wawrinka is a highlight.

The final section is led by Sinner, last year’s champion and a semifinalist at this year’s China Open. Also in this section are Rune, Bublik, Griekspoor, Mahach, Humbert, Pellicard, and Fritz. Chinese player Zhang Zhizhen will face Argentine Baez in the first round.

Although stars like Draper, Paul, and Dimi are absent, with Djokovic’s return, the dazzling Alcaraz-Djokovic duo still makes for a super-luxurious lineup. (FromSource: Tennis Home Author: Luo Cheng Qiye)
