Jannik Sinner has a significant opportunity to improve his medal standing at the China Open following his defeat to Carlos Alcaraz in the previous year's final.
The ATP 500 China Open 2025 is approaching its conclusion. After thrilling matches, the four players who have reached the men's singles semifinals have now been officially revealed.
The defending runner-up of the China Open - Jannik Sinner advanced directly into the final four by defeating Fabian Marozsan in just two sets. The world No. 2 dominated the first set, conceding only one game to Marozsan, though he faced some challenges in the second set.
Marozsan surged back by saving all three break points and then breaking Sinner’s crucial service game to lead 5-4, nearly pushing the quarterfinal to a decisive third set. However, Sinner demonstrated superior class by breaking repeatedly and staging a comeback to win 7-5, sealing the match 2-0 overall.
Sinner’s opponent in the semifinals is Alex De Minaur — who barely exerted effort as Jakub Mensik retired due to injury in the first set. Although a top-ranked player currently, "Demon" has often been outplayed by Sinner in their head-to-head encounters.
The other semifinal will be an eagerly anticipated match between Daniil Medvedev and Learner Tien. Despite having one of his worst seasons in years, Medvedev was still dominant over Alexander Zverev, quickly closing the key match in two sets after nearly 1 hour and 25 minutes of play. Meanwhile, young American player Learner Tien showed resilience by coming from behind to defeat Lorenzo Musetti, capitalizing on his opponent’s fatigue and unstable mindset caused by disputes with Chinese fans.
The 2025 China Open semifinals will take place today, September 30th.
