On Wednesday at the Beijing Tennis Open, Jannik Sinner defeated Lenerch 6-2, 6-2, who was reaching a tour-level final for the first time, earning his third title of the current season and the 21st tour-level championship of his professional career.
This was the first meeting between Sinner and the young talent Lenerch. Lenerch had previously defeated Medvedev in the semifinals, achieving back-to-back wins against Medvedev. Fans were eager to see how Lenerch compared to Sinner in this final match.
Sinner controlled the pace of the match throughout, preventing the 19-year-old American rising star from becoming the second youngest champion in the tournament’s history. During the match, Sinner’s forehand quality rating reached 8.8, as he dominated the center of the court and used aggressive shots to the corners to move Lenerch out of position, ultimately sealing the victory after 72 minutes.
At the award ceremony, Sinner said:
“This place means a lot to me, very, very special. I want to thank my team for their support and understanding. Not all team members could be here today, but I hope the others can witness this moment at home. Thanks to everyone for being with me; we will keep working hard to achieve more honors. Although I’m not sure how the rest of the season will go, I’m very happy to share this trophy with all of you.”

You have to admit, the golden hue of the Chinese champion’s trophy perfectly matches Sinner’s golden curls, complementing each other beautifully.
Sinner previously won the Beijing Open in 2023, and this latest victory makes him the third player after Djokovic and Nadal to win the ATP 500 Beijing Open multiple times. This year, Sinner has also claimed two Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, becoming the fourth player in 2025 to win three or more titles. Yesterday, Alcaraz won the Tokyo Open, securing his eighth championship of the season and leading the ATP rankings.
In the PIF ATP Turin year-end finals qualification points leaderboard, Sinner currently trails world No.1 Alcaraz by 2590 points; this leaderboard is sponsored by PIF.The ATP year-end No.1 ranking honoris an important reference for this list. Alcaraz’s victory at the Tokyo Open on Tuesday marked the first time since 2020 that the world No.1 and No.2 players both won titles in the same week (in 2020, Djokovic won Dubai and Nadal won Acapulco).
Sinner will next compete in Shanghai. Due to Alcaraz’s ankle injury and withdrawal from the Tokyo ATP 500 event, Sinner will be the top seed at the Shanghai tournament.

Lenerch’s ATP live ranking rose by 16 places to a career-high No.36. He has also qualified forthe next-generation ATP Finals for the second consecutive yearand currently ranks second in the PIF ATP Jeddah Finals qualification points leaderboard. On his way to the final, he defeated Lorenzo Musetti and Daniil Medvedev, holding a career record of 7 wins and 5 losses against Top 20 players.
