2025 China Open: Pegula comes back to defeat Navarro, advances to semifinals to face Noskova

On October 3rd, Beijing time, the 2025 China Open completed the two quarterfinal matches in the upper section of the women's singles bracket, where 5th seed Pegula and 26th seed Noskova each won, setting up a contest for the final berth between them.

Noskova

In the first women's singles quarterfinal on the center court, Czech player Noskova, who defeated Zheng Qinwen in the third round, beat British dark horse Katar 6-3, 6-4, reaching the semifinals of a WTA 1000 event for the first time in her career—her best performance at this level so far.

Pegula

In the following women's singles quarterfinal, an all-American showdown took place where Pegula overturned 16th seed Navarro with a scoreline of 6-7(2), 6-2, 6-1, marking her third consecutive three-set victory in this tournament and making her first semifinal appearance at the China Open; this also represents the 12th time she has reached the semifinals of a WTA 1000 event in her career.

Hsieh Su-wei / Ostapenko

In today's two women's doubles quarterfinal matches, the 4th seeds Hsieh Su-wei and Ostapenko defeated Mihalikova and Nykolskaya 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals, where they will face the defending champions and 2nd seeds Errani and Paolini for a place in the final. Due to Han Tianyu's injury withdrawal, her partnership with Muchova has pulled out of the doubles semifinals, granting their opponents Kato and Stollar a direct passage to the final.
