The Toutiao system deducted 50 points from my credibility just because I accidentally typed the wrong name, but fortunately, Toutiao gave me a chance to recover them.
This morning, as soon as I got up and opened Toutiao, I saw a system message telling me that 50 credibility points had been taken away, as shown in the image below.
I know the cause well: during yesterday’s WTT China Grand Slam report, I accidentally entered "Wang Manyu" instead of "Wang Yidi." Due to the keyboard’s memory function, when typing the pinyin "wang," it automatically suggests previously entered names. I wonder if others have experienced the same. Some fans even pointed out my mistake yesterday, and I thanked them and corrected it immediately. Unfortunately, some fans or visitors reported me anyway, which led to the 50-point deduction.
Luckily, Toutiao gave me a chance to redeem myself, and I appreciate that. Perhaps they understood that it wasn’t intentional or a serious offense—just a name error. They offered me a chance to answer questions to restore my points. According to Toutiao, I had to answer all 14 questions correctly to regain the 50 points.
From this incident, I realize I need to proofread more carefully when writing articles. However, I was a bit careless, prioritizing speed over accuracy. Also, I’m grateful to fans who lovingly pointed out my mistakes without reporting me. We must improve and try our best to avoid name errors and typos. I look forward to working with Toutiao to keep creating and move towards a brighter future!
By the way, has anyone else experienced something similar? How did you handle it? Is there a risk of getting permanently banned?
