WTT China Grand Slam Update: China Wins 3 Matches, Xiang Peng Defeats Hugo, Wang Chuqin Beats Matsushima, Women’s Doubles Claim Championship
WTT China Grand Slam Update: Following the completion of today’s (October 4, 2025) daytime competition, China’s players participated in three matches and achieved a clean sweep of three wins. Xiang Peng beat Hugo, Wang Chuqin bested Matsushima Hikaru, and the women’s doubles took the championship.
The opening match was the women’s doubles final, with Kuai Man and Wang Manyu defeating Hayata Hina and Zhu Qianxi 3-1. Kuai Man and Wang Manyu performed exceptionally well, showing excellent teamwork, truly deserving their status as the world’s top-ranked women’s doubles pair. Naturally, their opponents also played impressively, reaching the final in their first partnership and delivering a strong performance.
The second match was the men’s singles quarterfinal, where Hugo lost 3-4 to Xiang Peng, who caused an upset by advancing to the semifinals. Before the match, most predicted a Hugo victory. However, during the game, Xiang Peng played boldly and fought hard, strictly following the coach’s tactics. Notably, he held his own in rallies against Hugo. In the end, Hugo was defeated and Xiang Peng emerged victorious. Let’s give Xiang Peng a big round of applause for his outstanding performance.
The third match, also a men’s singles quarterfinal, saw Wang Chuqin defeat Matsushima Hikaru 4-1. Wang Chuqin, China’s top male singles player, had just won the men’s doubles title. Today at the venue, he played brilliantly, firmly controlling his opponent Matsushima Hikaru. Although Matsushima took a game back in the fourth set, Wang Chuqin quickly adjusted his strategy and secured the win to advance to the semifinals.
Tomorrow’s men’s singles semifinal will feature Xiang Peng versus Wang Chuqin. Who will win and move on to the final? Let’s wait and see!
