2025 Wuhan Open Qualifiers: Wang Yafan and Wang Xiyu Sadly Exit, Andreescu Suffers a Shocking Comeback Loss

On October 5th, Beijing time, the women's singles qualifiers of the 2025 Wuhan Tennis Open concluded. Among Chinese players, Wang Yafan squandered a 5-1 lead in the second set and lost six consecutive games, falling 3-6/5-7 to the 7th seed Siniakova, missing out on qualification; Wang Xiyu was also eliminated after a 4-6/3-6 defeat by Japan’s Moeka Nishimoto, who will face Wang Xinyu in the main draw's first round.

Andreescu

Former US Open champion Andreescu, despite leading 6-1/3-0, was dramatically overturned by Zakharova and ultimately lost 6-1/6-7(6)/3-6, failing to reach the main event. Top seed Jovic was eliminated after a 6-3/4-6/2-6 loss to Gracheva, and second seed Arango fell 6-7(4)/4-6 to Rudic, both exiting the tournament.
