Nguyễn Hải Đăng showcased remarkable form at the 2025 UAE Masters international badminton event, concluding with a third-place finish.
Nguyễn Hải Đăng claimed the third position in the men's singles at the 2025 UAE Masters international badminton tournament after being eliminated in the semifinals. This is an encouraging result for Vietnam’s top-ranked player in the world standings.
In the semifinal match, Hải Đăng faced the sixth seed Joakim Oldorff from Finland. Both players started at a fast pace, exchanging points continuously. In the first game, Hải Đăng fought hard to keep up but lost the crucial points, falling 17-21. In the second game, the Vietnamese player tried to equalize but was again defeated 17-21, resulting in a 0-2 loss and ending his run in the semifinals.
Although he did not reach the final, Nguyễn Hải Đăng’s third-place finish at the UAE Masters is a notable achievement. This tournament is part of the BWF World Tour Super 100 series, one of the significant stages in international badminton. Notably, Hải Đăng was the only Vietnamese athlete participating in this event, demonstrating continuous effort to uphold Vietnam’s badminton reputation globally.
This result also marks a new milestone in the career of the player born in 2000. He currently holds the 64th position worldwide—the highest ranking ever achieved by a Vietnamese male badminton player. Since the beginning of 2025, this is the first time Hải Đăng has reached the semifinals in men’s singles at an international tournament, having previously been stopped at the quarterfinals. This success is expected to boost his confidence and motivation for upcoming competitions.
Right after the UAE Masters, Nguyễn Hải Đăng will continue to participate in several other international tournaments to gain experience and improve his world ranking points.
