Although Medvedev earned a break in the ninth game, Learner Tien stayed calm and responded strongly by reclaiming the break in the crucial game. As a result, the players were tied 6-6, requiring a tie-break to decide the set. In this tie-break, Medvedev performed better, winning 8-6 and taking the first set 7-6.
