The 2019 champion Medvedev has made his way back to the men’s singles semifinals at the Shanghai Rolex Masters after a six-year gap. Today, facing the tournament’s 7th seed Deminor, the two baseline players engaged in a tight battle. Ultimately, Medvedev played steadily over two sets, winning 6-4, 6-4 after 1 hour and 53 minutes to advance.

After the match, Medvedev said it was a very close contest. “He had many chances as well. I served well on crucial points and played courageously, especially in the last two games. I’m very happy to have won this match and to reach the semifinals in Shanghai for the second time. The past year has been quite tough for me because I couldn’t perform at my best, so I’m glad to show a high level here. It lets me see both the old and new versions of myself to some extent. I’m looking forward to my next match.”

Looking ahead to his semifinal clash with Lindeknech, Medvedev commented: “He’s a tough opponent. When he’s at his best, he can beat anyone. He’s the kind of player who can finish points within two shots. I’m really excited about the upcoming match.”

Following in the footsteps of his cousin Vacherot, Lindeknech defeated 12th seed Aliassime 6-3, 6-4 to reach his first-ever ATP 1000 Masters singles semifinal. Speaking about advancing alongside Vacherot, Lindeknech said, “Yesterday I watched his match and was very nervous. Today, playing on court, I felt less tense because I really wanted him to win.”

He also expressed how much he enjoys competing in China: “This tournament is absolutely fantastic. I’ve been talking with my friends this week, and almost every day I feel the enthusiasm of the fans. Signing autographs on photos of myself that I’ve never seen before is really cool. Playing in such an atmosphere is very enjoyable. As players, we share the fans’ passion for tennis. This event will definitely be one of the most memorable experiences of my career. Of course, my journey here is not over, and I believe I will look forward to the Chinese season every year from now on.”
