Day 11 of the 2025 Shanghai Rolex Masters: Both Djokovic and Medvedev Fall, Cousins Set to Clash in Men’s Singles Final

On October 11, 2025, the 11th day of the Shanghai Rolex Masters unfolded. Vacherot eliminated Djokovic, and Lindeknecht overturned Medvedev, leading to a men’s singles final between the cousins tomorrow.

Vacherot

Qualifier Vacherot engaged in a 1 hour and 42 minutes fight against four-time tournament champion Djokovic, finally defeating him 6-3, 6-4 to reach his first ATP Tour singles final. Vacherot became the first player from Monaco to reach an ATP1000 Masters singles final, and also the lowest-ranked player in the Open Era to do so at a Masters event.

After the match, Vacherot said: “When I checked my phone after the match, it was hard not to cry. All my family and friends in Monaco sent me messages; it’s unbelievable to me. This is a historic moment. Every win now breaks a record, which means a lot to me and my country. Monaco might be the smallest country in the world, and we don’t have many athletes, but my success brings so much joy to my hometown, and that feeling is very special to me.”

Djokovic

In the post-match interview, Djokovic answered only one question, congratulating Vacherot: “I want to commend my opponent for his outstanding performance and congratulate him on reaching his first Masters final. Coming through qualifying to this stage is a wonderful story. I told him at the net that he played excellently in this tournament, and more importantly, his mindset was great. Of course, he has strong skills, and today was his day. I hope everything goes well for him in the final. The better player won today.” When asked about his physical condition, he did not respond.

Lindeknecht

In the second men’s singles semifinal, Lindeknecht followed his cousin Vacherot’s footsteps by coming back from behind to beat 16th seed Medvedev 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, defeating four Top 20 players in a row and reaching his first ATP1000 Masters singles final.

At the post-match press conference, Lindeknecht expressed his excitement: “Even in the wildest dreams, we wouldn’t have imagined this moment. It’s beyond belief. I still don’t know how all this happened; maybe it’s because our team and we have been doing the right things to deserve such an incredible miracle. No matter what happens tomorrow, both of us are winners because today we won everything.”
