The last occasion Novak Djokovic overcame Jannik Sinner dates back nearly two years.
In the semifinals of the 2025 Six Kings Slam held early morning on October 17th Vietnam time, Novak Djokovic lost 4-6, 2-6 to Jannik Sinner, the current world No. 2. This marks the Serbian legend’s seventh straight loss to the Italian opponent. When considering only official ATP Tour and ITF events, the count is five matches.
"Apologies for my bluntness, but it’s never pleasant to be dominated like that on the court. Nevertheless, I still feel great being able to compete in the top 10, top 5 at age 38."Djokovic shared with a touch of humor.
The player who has won 24 Grand Slam titles believes that Alcaraz and Sinner—who have won the last eight major titles between them—are at a level that he finds hard to match.
"I wish someone could trade me for a younger body, even just for a year, so I could keep beating them."Nole added further.
Despite the loss, Djokovic praised his opponent: "I apologize that the audience didn’t get to see a longer match today—it’s his fault, not mine. I tried to apply pressure in the final set, but it felt like facing a runaway train. He hits from every angle; I could only try to hold on."
On the other side of the net, Sinner humbly praised the Serbian legend: "He is a great role model for our generation. Playing against him is an honor and a privilege."
Sinner’s victory over Djokovic advanced him to the 2025 Six Kings Slam final, where the Italian will face familiar rival Carlos Alcaraz—whom he defeated in last season’s championship. This match is scheduled for 1:00 AM on October 19th Vietnam time.
