Mei misses the finals after revenge, Wawrinka finally loses, Karolina Pliskova withdraws, and Bai Bai is out.

Three minutes daily to keep up with global tennis news. Hello tennis fans, today is Saturday, November 1, 2025. Welcome to the midday news report brought to you by "Tennis Home."

Early this morning Beijing time, the ATP1000 Paris Masters completed the singles quarterfinals, finalizing the semifinalists. World No. 2 Jannik Sinner continued his impressive streak, beating American second-ranked Shelton 6-3, 6-3 to reach the last four. In the semifinals, he will face German star Zverev again, following last week's Vienna event. Zverev saved two match points to narrowly overcome Russian Medvedev 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(5), ending a five-match losing streak against him. Meanwhile, Medvedev’s missed match points dashed his hopes of qualifying for the year-end finals in singles.

In another match, 13th seed Kazakhstan’s Bublik battled through three sets to overturn 6th seed Australian Fritz with a 6-7(5), 6-4, 7-5 win, reaching his first Masters singles semifinal. There, he will face 9th seed Canadian Auger-Aliassime, who cruised 6-2, 6-2 past wildcard Vasek Pospisil from Monaco, ending Vasek’s 10-match winning streak in Masters main draws. Auger-Aliassime returns to the semifinals here after three years and still keeps his hopes alive for the year-end finals.

Now turning to the women’s tour. Last night Beijing time, three WTA250 tournaments concluded their singles quarterfinals, producing all semifinalists. Hong Kong: Former champion and 2nd seed Fernandez defeated 7th seed Romanian Costea 6-4, 6-4 to advance. She will next face compatriot Mboko for a spot in the final, who received a retirement gift from Russian opponent Kalinskaya while leading 6-1, 3-1.

In another match, 5th seed Australian rising star Jonté defeated Japanese qualifier Sakaguchi 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to reach her fifth tour semifinal this season. She will now compete against Spaniard Bucsa for a place in the final, who advanced due to the withdrawal of top seed and Swiss star Bencic.

In doubles: In a quarterfinal match, Chinese duo Jiang Xinyu and Wang Xiyu defeated fellow Hong Kong pair Wang Kangyi and Zhang Weihuan 7-6, 6-4 to reach the semifinals.

Jiujiang: Czech youngster Salkova beat the last remaining Chinese singles player Bai Zhuoxuan 6-3, 6-4, reaching her first career tour semifinal. She will face Russian Blinkova, who eliminated American Paks 7-5, 7-5. Defending champion and 2nd seed Grubusic defeated Kazakhstan’s Putintseva 7-5, 6-2, extending her winning streak here to eight matches and advancing to the semifinals. She will meet Austrian Tagger, who beat German Kolpach 2-0 for a final spot.

Chennai: 7th seed Australian player Burel advanced to the semifinals with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Croatian Vekic. 4th seed and Indonesia’s top player Zeng Limie comfortably beat wildcard Pohankova 6-3, 6-1 to secure a semifinal berth. The other two semifinal spots went to Thailand’s Tararudi and Taiwan’s Joanna Garland. Semifinal matchups: Tararudi vs. Zeng Limie, Burel vs. Garland.

Finally, let's have a guess and recognition game. The image below shows a player taking a selfie. Without any hints, can you identify who she is?
