A new "Battle of the Sexes" will be held in the off-season, with the current women's tennis world No.1 Sabalenka competing against former Wimbledon runner-up Kyrgios on December 28 in the UAE.
The title "Battle of the Sexes" for this exhibition derives from the iconic 1973 match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs, in which Billie Jean King defeated her opponent in straight sets. Sabalenka said, "I have great respect for Billie Jean King's contributions to women's tennis. Representing women's tennis in this modern version of the Battle of the Sexes fills me with pride. Dubai is my home, and I know the city loves grand and entertaining events. I have a lot of respect for Kyrgios and his talent, and I am ready to give my all."

Due to wrist and knee injuries, Kyrgios has played only six tour-level matches in the past three years. He stated that he will show full respect to Sabalenka. Kyrgios's most recent tournament was this year's Miami Open, and in a recent podcast, he admitted that next year’s Australian Open might be his last tournament before retirement.

Kyrgios said, "When the world No.1 challenges you, you have to step up. I have immense respect for Sabalenka; she is very strong and a true champion. But I never shy away from challenges. I’m not just playing to compete, but to entertain, which is what gives my life meaning."
In an interview with the Australian Associated Press, Kyrgios said, "Obviously, she might be one of the greatest female players ever, and she hasn’t even fully realized her potential yet. I believe she will win more Grand Slam titles. I am ready for the challenge, but honestly, playing against her is also very stressful for me. While I’m confident, I’m also well aware of how dangerous she is."
