Moller delivered inspiring tennis all week, not dropping a single set in the four matches leading up to the final.
The young Danish player was ranked 102nd worldwide this summer and was close to entering the top 100.
Nonetheless, he struggled to regain his best form during late summer and autumn, falling to number 147 in the global rankings.
Moller faced difficulties early in the final, getting broken immediately and smashing his racket on the ground in frustration after missing an early break point.
Yet, he not only broke back but also secured another break to lead 3-2. The 36-year-old Slovak then leveled the score, and at 4-4, the set was heading towards a tiebreak.
Moller broke serve once more and, despite trailing 15-40 on his own serve, managed to close out the set, largely due to his excellent backhand.
Back in 2020, Andrej Martin was ranked 93rd globally, but the Slovak is far from that form now and couldn’t withstand Moller's power in the second set.
This marked Elmer Moller's eighth Challenger final appearance in his career. He has won four titles so far, all on clay courts.
