Sinner achieves a third consecutive "Fan Favorite" title, Alcaraz sweeps three awards

On December 12 local time, ATP revealed the last recipient of the 2025 annual awards — Sinner secured the ATP Most Popular Singles Player award for the third consecutive year, becoming the first player after Swiss great Federer to achieve this three-peat.

"I truly appreciate all your votes," Sinner expressed, "Winning the fan favorite award once more is incredibly meaningful to me, and this recognition is all thanks to you. It’s been a challenging year, but your endless energy and support, especially when I compete on court in front of you, have been invaluable. For us tennis players, this feeling is the most wonderful. Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart. I will prepare for the new season in top form, and I believe we will meet again soon."

Ending the season ranked world No. 2 behind Alcaraz, Sinner claimed two Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, finishing with a 15-match winning streak. He also secured titles in Vienna and Paris and successfully defended his ATP Finals championship, concluding the season with an impressive 58 wins and 6 losses.

Reviewing Sinner’s ATP annual awards, he won the Best Newcomer award in 2019, then in 2023 he earned both the Most Improved Player and Most Popular Singles Player awards, and in 2024 he was once again named the Most Popular Singles Player of the year.

The Coach of the Year and Breakthrough Player awards were announced in the previous two days. Alcaraz’s dual coaches Juan Carlos Ferrero and Samuel Lopez were honored as Coaches of the Year, while Monaco’s Vacherot received the Breakthrough Player award.

Ferrero became the first coach to win this award twice, having previously received it in 2022. Lopez joined Alcaraz’s coaching team before the 2025 season. With their guidance, Alcaraz reclaimed the world No. 1 ranking, earned the year-end No. 1 title, and finished the season with eight titles, including the French Open and US Open, plus Masters titles in Monte Carlo, Rome, and Cincinnati.

Since the introduction of the Best Coach award by ATP in 2016, Ferrero has been nominated four times and won twice. "I’m very happy to receive this award," Ferrero said. "I never doubted Samuel would perfectly fit our working philosophy because we have collaborated for years, and he fully understands my expectations for Carlos (Alcaraz). From the start, he demonstrated outstanding capabilities."

The Breakthrough Player award went to Monaco’s Vacherot, who outperformed fellow nominees Draper, Fonseca, and Menchik. Vacherot won the Shanghai Rolex Masters this year, becoming the lowest-ranked ATP Masters champion in history.

"I’m thrilled to receive the 2025 Breakthrough Player award," Vacherot said. "This is an extraordinary achievement for me and the entire team, the result of years of hard work. All that effort paid off in Shanghai and Paris this October, and now I’ve reached my career-high ranking. Winning this award makes me very proud, and I hope to achieve even more in the coming years."
