Media selects Asia’s top male tennis representatives, with only one from mainland China!

In the memory of most tennis fans, although China’s tennis development and progress still lag behind Western and European countries, we have made outstanding achievements over the last ten years. Besides hosting more and more tournaments domestically, some players have also performed impressively, whether it’s the early Olympic women’s doubles gold, Grand Slam women’s doubles titles, Li Na’s two Grand Slam singles championships, or Zheng Qinwen’s Olympic women’s singles gold medal—all are remarkable accomplishments.

However, Chinese tennis has been more successful on the women’s side, especially in earlier years when mainland China’s men’s tennis was still waiting for the first player to break into the top 100 in singles. Fortunately, in recent seasons with the strong rise of players like Zhang Zhizhen, our men’s tennis has also made great strides.

Recently, the Asia Tennis Channel selected the top five male representatives of Asian tennis in 2025. Let’s take a look at which players made the list!

First: Bublik

As the current top Asian male player, Bublik is highly competitive in today’s global tennis scene. Hailing from Kazakhstan, he is ranked 11th in the world, holds four ATP singles titles, has defeated top players like Sinner at Halle, and his best Grand Slam result so far is reaching the quarterfinals at the French Open.

Second: Wu Tung-lin

This season has been a breakthrough year for Hong Kong’s Wu Tung-lin, who has set new personal bests in Grand Slam and Masters tournaments, reaching the round of 32 in men’s singles at all events. Additionally, he secured a runner-up finish at a Challenger event.

Third/Fourth: Shintaro Mochizuki, Rei Sakamoto

The third and fourth spots on the list go to Japanese players. The former won two matches in Grand Slam main draws and broke into the top 100 for the first time this season, also claiming a Challenger title; the latter won two Challenger titles and qualified twice for Masters main draws, improving his world ranking by over 200 places this season.

Fifth: Wu Yibing

The fifth position finally features a mainland Chinese male player. Although Wu Yibing’s season was intermittent, he performed well in the few tournaments he entered this year. He won a valuable singles gold medal at the National Games and reached the men’s singles semifinals at the home tournament in Hangzhou on the tour. Moreover, he captured a Challenger title.

Besides these five players, the list also nominated Chinese player Zhou Yi, who reached two Challenger finals this season and defeated notable player Norrie at the Chengdu event. So, who do you think best represents Asian men’s tennis this season?(Source: Tennis Home, Author: Barbie)
