Sinner cautiously speaks about his biggest goal for the 2026 season.

Jannik Sinner recently suffered a surprising defeat to Jakub Mensik, ending his quest to win the Qatar Open for the first time in his career.

The world No. 2, Jannik Sinner, confirmed that his main ambition for the 2026 season is to conquer Roland Garros — the only Grand Slam title missing from his collection.

In an interview with UBI Tennis, after exiting the quarterfinals of the 2026 Qatar Open,Sinner openly discussed his goal of completing the Career Grand Slam. "One of my biggest targets is definitely Roland Garros, although I know there is still a long way to go,"the Italian player said cautiously.

Roland Garros has long been considered Sinner’s toughest challenge, as clay courts have never been his strongest surface. Having already won four Grand Slam titles, including the Australian Open, a victory in Paris would place Sinner among the elite players who have completed the full set of major trophies in their career.

Jannik Sinner has come very close to lifting the prestigious Roland Garros trophy before.

However, Sinner’s start to 2026 has not been smooth. After losing in the Australian Open semifinals to Novak Djokovic,he then suffered a three-set defeat to Jakub Mensik in the Qatar Open quarterfinals — a result that surprised many.

Nevertheless, the 2001-born player remains calm despite these setbacks. He emphasized there is no reason to panic: "We are still very composed; there is no disaster. I’ve only lost a few matches. I have to remember that over the past three years, I have won a lot and lost very little."

Analyzing his loss to Mensik, Sinner pointed out that his opponent served exceptionally well, especially in the first set with a 90% first-serve rate, leaving him almost no chance to break. In the deciding set, a poor start and an early lost break made it impossible for him to turn the match around.

Despite this, the Italian star remains confident in his preparation process. "Efforts will be rewarded. Maybe not immediately at Indian Wells or Miami, but the results will come. I have gone through tougher phases before and know how to overcome them,"he shared.
