Carlos Alcaraz remains undefeated in 2026 with an absolutely "dominant" form.
World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz continued his impressive run by defeating French opponent Arthur Fils in just over 50 minutes with a score of 6-2, 6-1 in the final Qatar Open 2026, securing the 26th title of his career and his first championship in Doha.
This victory came shortly after Alcaraz completed his career Grand Slam collection at the Australian Open earlier this month. At 22 years old, the Spanish player is enjoying a peak period, extending his unbeaten streak this season to 12 matches, confirming his status as the brightest star in men's tennis.
"I came here with the desire to achieve even more.", Alcaraz said after the match. "After every tournament, you have to set a new goal. I am really proud of what my team and I have accomplished both on and off the court. This is a very strong start to the year."
According to Carlitos, the journey was not easy. He emphasized the crucial role of mental strength: "I had to be mentally strong along with my team. I am playing fantastic tennis and I am truly happy. This trophy means a lot to me."
On the other side, despite the loss, Fils had a memorable week. The 21-year-old is gradually regaining form after an 8-month injury break. On his way to the final, he defeated several strong opponents like Jakub Mensik and Jiri Lehecka, creating a major surprise.
"I had to take 8 months off due to injury. During that time, I really struggled because I couldn’t play tennis.", Fils shared. "Today wasn’t my lucky day, but I think the whole team did very well".
Reaching his first ATP final since winning in Tokyo in 2024 will help the French star improve his ranking to world No. 33 in the upcoming list.
