Can Alcaraz win the "Golden Masters" title in 2026?

At the 2026 Australian Open, Alcaraz secured the championship, completing all four Grand Slam titles and becoming the youngest player in ATP history to hold a career Grand Slam.

Within the tennis world, there are several highly valued honors, which are:

Career Grand Slam

Winning the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open at least once during a career.

Men who have achieved this: Alcaraz, Agassi, Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, and Laver.

After winning the 2026 Australian Open, Alcaraz officially joined this elite group and became the youngest ever to complete the career Grand Slam.

Calendar Year Grand Slam

Winning all four Grand Slam titles in the same season.

Only Laver has achieved this among men, in 1969.

Golden Slam

Career Grand Slam plus an Olympic singles gold medal.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, 37-year-old Djokovic finally fulfilled this dream, becoming the second man after Agassi to achieve the Golden Slam.

Calendar Year Golden Slam

Winning all four Grand Slam titles plus the Olympic gold medal in the same season; no male player has done this to date.

Golden Masters

Winning all nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments over a career.

The nine events are: Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Madrid, Rome, Canada (Toronto/Montreal), Cincinnati, Shanghai, and Paris.

Djokovic is the only player to have achieved the Golden Masters, even completing the legendary double career Golden Masters.

So, who will be the next Golden Masters champion?

Currently, Alcaraz holds eight Masters titles:

Indian Wells (twice), Miami, Monte Carlo, Madrid (twice), Rome, and Cincinnati.

He only needs the three tournaments of Paris, Shanghai, and Canada to complete the Golden Masters.

Judging by his 2025 season, where he won Monte Carlo, Rome, and Cincinnati in one year, this goal is within reach. Keep in mind, peak Djokovic won six Masters titles in a single season in 2015.

Among active players, Medvedev is also close to the Golden Masters, having won six different Masters titles but missing Indian Wells, Monte Carlo, and Madrid. However, comparing their playing styles and surface preferences, Medvedev’s path to completion is clearly more challenging than Alcaraz’s.

In the 2026 season, Alcaraz has already unlocked the career Grand Slam.

Can he build on this momentum and complete the final three pieces of the Golden Masters puzzle? Let’s wait and see.
