Asia's top male tennis player shares a viral post about escaping Dubai, while Medvedev's entrapment sparks heated debate over forced tournament withdrawal.

Tennis brothers and former Russian compatriots Medvedev and Bublik have experienced vastly different fates in Dubai!

For Russian star Medvedev, this year's Dubai has been a mix of joy and worry.

The joy came from winning the ATP 500 title without breaking a sweat, as his final opponent, Griekspoor, withdrew due to an injury sustained against Medvedev's friend Rublev, though it meant missing a much-anticipated final showdown with his friend.

The worry arose when, right after his victory, Medvedev lamented, "This is not how I wanted to win," only to find himself unexpectedly stranded in Dubai, unable to travel as planned to California, USA, for the upcoming Indian Wells Masters.

Medvedev's current predicament stems from Iran's attacks on US military bases and other targets in Dubai and surrounding areas, prompting the UAE to close its airspace and Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport for security reasons.

After the news broke, many expressed concern for Medvedev, as it remains unclear when international flights from the UAE will resume.

With the 500 ranking points earned from his Dubai win, Medvedev's live ranking has climbed to 11th, putting him just one step away from re-entering the world's top ten.

Before this unexpected event, many supporters were thrilled for the Russian star, stating that Medvedev was highly motivated and would not only be a disruptor at the Indian Wells Masters but would also re-enter the top ten after the tournament, with celebrations already being prepared.

No one anticipated that trouble would arrive before tomorrow. Medvedev had just won the title and likely hadn't fully processed the joy before the Dubai entrapment incident occurred.

The ATP schedule shows the Indian Wells Masters runs from March 4th to 15th. If Medvedev cannot leave Dubai and reach the destination before the main draw begins, it would mean he is forced to withdraw.

Some worriedly noted that Medvedev was in excellent form in Dubai, showing a complete resurgence. It would be a great pity if this unexpected incident cooled his momentum, causing him to fall short of re-entering the top ten.

Of course, besides the Russian star and Griekspoor, others currently stranded in Dubai and unable to travel to the next tournament include the four players from the men's doubles final: Finn Heliovaara, Brit Patten, Croat Pavic, and Salvadoran Arevalo, who also found themselves unable to fly out after their final.

While the full further details of these six players in Dubai are unknown, it's certain they are deeply anxious about being unable to leave and compete.

Many fans and netizens have offered suggestions: since flying is impossible, instead of sitting around anxiously, they should try to leave by land to a safe zone first, then fly to Indian Wells. "Where there's a will, there's a way. One must not sit idly by in such special circumstances."

As the debate over whether Medvedev would be forced to withdraw due to being stranded in Dubai heated up, foreign media soon reported that the Russian star is safe and expressed his intention to find a way to leave Dubai and reach Indian Wells as planned, echoing the fans' and netizens' thoughts.

In contrast to the lamentable situation of Medvedev and others being trapped in Dubai, Asia's top male player Bublik was clearly much luckier.

Before the UAE closed Dubai's airport, Asia's top player luckily flew out of Dubai and has now safely arrived in the United States.

Bublik later intentionally posted on his personal social media to update fans and netizens on his safety.

Furthermore, Asia's top player shared the thrilling moment of his departure from Dubai, stating that shortly after his plane took off, shells landed on Dubai soil. He was shocked and fearful upon learning this news immediately.

"When we left Dubai, we thought: if God wills it, this flight will be safe. We had just left Iranian airspace when I saw the news and witnessed everything that happened." Bublik revealed that everyone on the plane was very tense and began praying for a smooth journey. They all breathed a huge sigh of relief upon safely landing in the US.

After Bublik's post quickly went viral, many hailed him as an ultra-"lucky one." Since Asia's top player was eliminated in the second round of the Dubai 500, it's puzzling why he didn't leave immediately but stayed until Saturday. Fortunately, his luck held, allowing him to escape Dubai at the last moment. Had he been delayed and trapped, affecting his participation in the Indian Wells Masters, he likely would have been devastated.(Source: Tennis Home, Author: Moon River's Starry Sky)
