On March 3rd Beijing time, the main draw for the 2026 WTA/ATP Indian Wells tournament was released. Serving as the inaugural ATP/WTA 1000 tournament of the season, the top ten ranked players in men's and women's singles have converged at this tennis haven, where Andreeva and Draper will embark on their journeys to defend their crowns.

In the women's singles draw, Sabalenka and Swiatek, as the top two seeds, are positioned in the upper and lower halves respectively. This season's Australian Open champion Rybakina enters as the No. 3 seed in the bottom half, while home favorite Gauff is seeded fourth. Eighth seed Andreeva will commence her title defense from the 7/8 section.

Zheng Qinwen
Following Yuan Yue's first-round exit in the qualifying rounds, the number of Chinese players in the main draw is finalized at three, marking the lowest figure since 2021 (when Zhang Shuai and Zheng Saisai participated). Zheng Qinwen reached the quarterfinals here last year. This year, as the No. 24 seed, she receives a first-round bye. Her second-round opponent will be the winner between Ružić and local wildcard Brady, with a potential third-round match against No. 13 seed Muchová. Should she advance, she may face her familiar rival Swiatek in the fourth round. Recent training footage reveals that former Australian Open finalist and Cypriot tennis legend Baghdatis has joined her team. With her new coach, she is set to tackle this challenging draw head-on.

Wang Xinyu
Wang Xinyu, as the No. 30 seed, also enjoys a first-round bye. Her second-round opponent will be the victor of the match between Tomljanović and Rus, with a potential third-round clash against No. 7 seed Paolini. Wang Xinyu reached the third round here for the first time last year and aims to continue her breakthrough this season.

Zhang Shuai
Zhang Shuai's first-round opponent is Ukrainian player Yastremska. A potential second-round match awaits against No. 31 seed Eala, followed by a possible third-round encounter with No. 4 seed Gauff. Zhang Shuai's best results at Indian Wells are third-round appearances in both 2016 and 2018. Last week, she reached the semifinals at the WTA 500 event in Mérida. In good form, she will strive for another strong performance.
