Rublev's Mother: Russian Trio Has Departed Dubai, Heading to Indian Wells

Owing to the recent intensification of regional tensions in the Middle East, a number of tennis stars who participated in the Dubai Tennis Championships last week found themselves stuck locally, unable to depart. Among them were the Russian trio of Medvedev, Rublev, and Khachanov. As worries mounted that they could be absent from the soon-to-begin Indian Wells Masters, this "Dubai escape" has finally ended positively.

Rublev's mother, Marina Marenko, shared the latest reassuring news via social media and interviews, confirming that the three players have successfully left the UAE and are en route to the United States.

With the temporary closure of Dubai's local airport and the disruption of regular commercial flights, the three Russian stars and their teams had to resort to contingency plans. According to Ms. Marenko, they first traveled by road from Dubai to the neighboring country of Oman, then sought a chartered flight solution there.

"They arranged a special flight for the teams of Medvedev, Khachanov, and Rublev," Marenko stated in an interview. "They took off from Oman at 4 p.m. local time, and I am waiting for their call upon arrival in Istanbul."

She noted that the trip received significant assistance from the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals). "If I'm not mistaken, the ATP helped organize this journey. For a long time, takeoff was not permitted, but now they are finally on their way." It is reported that the flight to Istanbul, Turkey, takes approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes.

According to the plan, after arriving in Istanbul, they will transfer to a flight to Los Angeles, with their final destination being the Indian Wells Masters, set to take place in the California desert. Known for its large scale and substantial prize money, the tournament is often called the "Fifth Grand Slam."

Marenko's words serve as a reassurance to fans regarding their participation. Although the unexpected delay disrupted their preparation schedules, as seeded players with first-round byes, their first matches are not scheduled until around March 7th, providing them with valuable adjustment time.

This sudden travel ordeal has finally come to an end, much to the relief of fans. With the safe arrival of the three top Russian players, this year's Indian Wells Masters will maintain its stellar lineup, and fans look forward to seeing them deliver exciting performances after overcoming these hurdles.(Source: Tennis Home Author: Mei)
